Our Surgical Team
We all know the adage that two heads are better than one. Well, combine that with four highly skilled and accomplished hands, and you have yourself a surgical dream team.
Working as a surgical team for over 15 years, Dr. Caccavale and Dr. Bocage employ a unique collaborative approach to VATS surgeries. Operating together on the same patient, they can conduct the procedure in a highly efficient and safe manner. The surgical team also includes specially trained anesthesiologists, nurses and personel dedicated to the VATS team approach.
Each an experienced surgeon in his own right, Dr. Bocage and Dr. Caccavale are able to work independently on either side of the patient’s body – simultaneously and succinctly accomplishing with four hands a task that typically relies on just the two hands of a single surgeon.
Our History
Thoracic Group, P.A. was among the first in the world to perform VATS – a testament to our expertise, experience and ability. And by constantly pursuing innovation as well as providing VATS education, we have continued to be at the forefront of progressing and improving the procedure.
Our Accomplishments
Thoracic Group currently utilizes VATS in over 99 percent of its surgeries, and has reached the unprecedented milestone of 5,000 VATS procedures.
The frequency in which a procedure begins as VATS, but then requires a change to a traditional open chest thoracotomy is known as a conversion rate – and ours is less than one half of one percent.
